Fairtrade
By promoting Fairtrade goods our volunteers ensure a better deal for producers from developing countries. They provide support and help with co-ordinating local events. Volunteers work locally, all-year round, but particularly during Fairtrade fortnight, which is in March.
Groups currently meet in Bradford on Avon, Chippenham, Cricklade, Devizes, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Melksham, Trowbridge, Salisbury, Swindon and Warminster. Click here to find out more about Fairtrade.
We are also looking for assistance in the Trust offices at Devizes assisting with the central co-ordination in Wiltshire for Fairtrade, networking with other volunteers and Fairtrade organisations.
During Fairtrade Fortnight we hope that volunteers will take a key role by helping with events. Opportunities include preparing event lists, maintaining Fairtrade directories and displaying promotional materials.
They will also assist the Wiltshire Fairtrade Coalition, which meets 3-4 times a year, and deal with Fairtrade enquiries by phone, email and post. There is also the opportunity to get involved with any other relevant initiatives, as agreed between the volunteer and the Fairtrade Coalition.
The volunteer will be able to work flexible hours with extra time during Fairtrade fortnight in March. If you are interested in this role you should have an understanding and support for Fairtrade, be a good communicator, able to work without close supervision, and be well organised and computer literate.
