Sue Litherland

Sue Litherland joined the Trust in 2003 as Communications Officer to promote the Trust’s activities to the media and produce its publications. Prior to joining the Trust she spent most of her career in journalism and publishing.
She has been London correspondent for a developing world news agency, frequently writing about the environment, and managing editor of a national business magazine among other posts. She started out as a reporter on a regional daily newspaper published from Kuwait, but left when blacklisted for covering ‘wasta’ – the use of influence to gain business contracts!
A year and a half spent travelling overland through developing countries resulted in a respect for how people a great deal poorer develop resilience and an imaginative approach to solving everyday problems. She is a former Trustee of the Marlborough Brandt Group, a charity that seeks in its own small way to address the imbalance between the developed and developing worlds. It has a long-standing link with Gunjur, a fishing community in The Gambia, where people are already feeling the impact of climate change.
